Beijing's central axis shows diversity, helps tell China's story: scholar

Beijing's central axis, including Zhengyang Gate, is now fully open to the public. A scholar says the axis displays diversity and helps tell China's story well, amid other developments in fuel safety, micro-drama regulation, AI dining and waste management.

Beijing's central axis shows diversity, helps tell China's story: scholar

A scholar researching the conservation and urban renewal of Beijing's central axis said the site displays diversity and helps tell China's story well. The comment came after the tower and arrow tower of Zhengyang Gate, one of the representative buildings on the UNESCO World Heritage central axis, opened fully to the public, allowing visitors to experience the grandeur of the so-called "first gate of Beijing".

Separately, authorities have been cracking down on illegal fuel stations selling substandard diesel and petrol across the mainland. A local official said that despite enforcement since last year, such "black fuel stations" have re-emerged. The State Council's Work Safety Committee has convened a meeting to push for deeper inspections and rectifications nationwide.

The Regulations on the Development and Management of Micro-dramas took effect earlier, requiring that artificial-intelligence-produced micro-dramas carry a prominent label in every episode. Experts believe the authorities aim to support human-created micro-dramas through these rules.

In Shanghai, a canteen has introduced a special "omakase" service that uses artificial intelligence to analyse diners' health data and tailor personalised menus. Meanwhile, in Xiong'an New Area of Hebei province, one of the first pilot "zero-waste cities", authorities have built an underground waste-processing system topped with an ecological park, achieving odourless and noiseless solid-waste treatment.
