Beijing logs record single-day passenger flow of 5.6 million on October 1

Beijing recorded a record single-day passenger flow of 5.606 million on October 1, the first day of the National Day holiday. The seven-day holiday saw about 31.77 million trips, up over 11 per cent year-on-year, with parks hosting over 13.81 million visitors.

Beijing set a new record for single-day passenger flow on October 1, with 5.606 million trips into and out of the city, according to local authorities. The figure marked the highest daily passenger flow in the capital's history.

Over the seven-day National Day holiday, which ended on October 7, a total of about 31.77 million passenger trips were recorded in Beijing, averaging 4.539 million per day. That represented a year-on-year increase of more than 11 per cent, authorities said.

Beijing's parks received more than 13.81 million visitors during the holiday period. The Tiantan Park was the most popular, welcoming about 1.03 million visitors, followed by the Summer Palace with nearly 900,000 visitors and Chaoyang Park with over 670,000 visitors, according to official data.

Xinhua News Agency reported that Beijing received a total of 23.45 million tourists during the National Day holiday, generating total tourism spending of 29.49 billion yuan. The top 10 most visited spots in the capital included Wangfujing, Liangmahe International Waterfront, Olympic Park, Xidan, Tiananmen Square area, Qianmen Street, Tiantan Park, Shichahai Scenic Area, Nanluoguxiang, and the Summer Palace.
