Sincere Department Store to close Central branch in December

Sincere Department Store's Central branch will close in early December after failing to renew its lease. The group plans to find a new location in Central or Sheung Wan.

Sincere Department Store's branch at 103 Des Voeux Road Central will close around early December this year. The group said it aims to continue operating in the Central and Sheung Wan areas, and is searching for a suitable site to open a new department store.

In a voluntary announcement to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the group said the lease for its Central branch expires at the end of December. The company had wanted to renew the lease but could not reach an agreement with the landlord, prompting the closure in early December to allow time for restoration works and handover of the premises.

As of the date of the announcement, Sincere said it had not yet found a suitable location for a new department store. The group will continue to operate its department store at 495-501 Nathan Road in Mong Kok.
