The ninth China International Import Expo opened in Shanghai on 5 November and will run until 10 November, bringing together 162 countries, regions and international organisations. A total of 4,142 overseas enterprises are exhibiting, and the overall exhibition area has exceeded 440,000 square metres for the first time, according to the official Xinhua News Agency.
Xinhua reported that more than 2,000 companies are taking part for the first time, covering manufacturing, consumption and services. These newcomers are showcasing their flagship products to explore opportunities in the Chinese market. The agency described the expanding “circle of friends” as a vivid illustration of global enterprises “voting with their feet”.
More than 480 products are making their global, Asian or China debut at this year’s expo, a record number. Cutting-edge technologies are on display across artificial intelligence, medical and health care, elderly care services and the circular economy, representing the latest directions in global industrial innovation, Xinhua said.
