Australian clean-tech firm ClearVue opens global R&D base in Hong Kong
Australian clean-tech company ClearVue has set up a global R&D base and a joint venture in Hong Kong with a mainland Chinese manufacturer. The move aims to combine its patented solar glass technology with mainland production capabilities to expand in Asia.
Australian clean-tech company ClearVue has established a global research and development base in Hong Kong, supported by Invest Hong Kong. The firm announced the formation of a joint venture with mainland Chinese vacuum glass manufacturer Luoyang Landi Titanium Vacuum Glass Co Ltd. The venture will combine ClearVue's patented solar glass technology with mainland manufacturing strengths to produce cost-effective electricity-generating glass for buildings.
ClearVue's newly established R&D base in Hong Kong will play a key role in these efforts. Invest Hong Kong provided advisory services for the firm's business setup and helped connect it with local and international industry stakeholders and investors.
Acting Director-General of Invest Hong Kong, Lau Chi-yuen, said: 'We warmly welcome ClearVue's decision to set up its global R&D base in Hong Kong. Our city, with its high-rise buildings, is an ideal testing ground for turning glass curtain walls into clean energy generation devices. This investment fully demonstrates Hong Kong's unique advantages – seamlessly combining Australian cutting-edge technology, local R&D capabilities and the strong manufacturing capacity of the Greater Bay Area. We hope ClearVue will use Hong Kong as a springboard to promote its innovative solutions across Asia and beyond, creating strong synergies.'
ClearVue CEO and Managing Director Doug Hunt said: 'Hong Kong has everything we need to accelerate our development in Asia. Strong local demand, a deep pool of engineering talent and a well-established construction ecosystem make it an ideal base for developing and rolling out projects. Through our joint venture in Hong Kong, we can combine our technology with mainland manufacturing to produce cost-effective solar glass. Our R&D team also benefits from easy access for rapid prototyping and testing. As projects in the Greater Bay Area progress, we will continue to invest in talent and infrastructure here, using Hong Kong as a strategic gateway to further expand in the Asia-Pacific region.'
